Attendance and Punctuality

At St Thomas Community Primary School, we know that regular attendance and being on time are important for your child’s learning and development. Coming to school every day and arriving on time helps children make the most of every lesson and builds habits that will benefit them for life.

Why Attendance Matters

Every lesson matters – missing even a day can mean missing out on important learning.

Being in school regularly helps children grow in confidence, progress, and achievement.

Consistent attendance supports resilience, responsibility, and a sense of routine.

Why Punctuality Matters

Arriving on time shows respect for teachers, classmates, and the learning environment.

Lessons start promptly, so being on time ensures children don’t miss key instructions or learning.

Punctuality is a valuable life skill that prepares children for future education and work.

Our Expectations

We encourage all children to aim for 95% attendance or higher across the school year.

Children should arrive on time each day.

Please let us know on the day if your child is unwell or unable to attend school, either by contacting the school office or messaging your child's teacher on ClassDojo.

Working Together

At St Thomas, we see attendance as a partnership between home and school. We are here to support families and help children overcome any challenges that might make it hard to come to school or arrive on time. If attendance or punctuality is ever a concern, we will work with you to understand the situation and find practical solutions.

By working together, we can make sure every child has the best chance to thrive, learn, and enjoy their time at school.
