Welcome to Year 4

Our Year 4 team is made up of Mr Goss, Miss Dennis, Miss May and Mrs Raven. We will be teaching and supporting your children throughout the year.

This Term's Learning

This term, we are exploring three exciting areas of learning: Religious Views, the British Empire, and Space. We will be looking at how different religions understand the world, how the British Empire shaped history, and what we know about the universe beyond Earth. Throughout these topics, we’ll be asking questions, sharing ideas, and building our understanding together.  Alongside our classroom learning, there will also be a number of exciting trips for the children to take part in, helping bring these topics to life. We’ll be keeping the details of these trips a surprise for now to help build curiosity and excitement—more information will be shared soon!

Last Term's Learning

Last term, the children enjoyed a rich and varied learning journey. Our book focus, The Café at the Edge of the Woods, inspired thoughtful discussion and creative work—and we are excited to be continuing this book topic into the new term. In maths, we explored measurement as well as formal addition and subtraction, helping to strengthen confidence and accuracy with key skills. We also developed financial literacy, learning about money and making sensible choices. A real highlight was our collaboration with a local artist, where the children worked together to create a wonderful piece of artwork that will soon be proudly displayed in school. Alongside this, the children also took part in hockey sessions and enjoyed a fantastic scooter fun day, adding even more excitement to their learning.
