At St Thomas Community Primary School, we place a strong emphasis on the importance of reading and developing a lifelong love of books. Reading plays a vital role in supporting our learners’ language development, imagination, confidence, and overall academic success.

We are extremely fortunate to have St Thomas Council Library located on our school site. This unique provision gives our learners regular and easy access to a wide range of high-quality books, resources, and reading opportunities in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The school has excellent links with St Thomas Library, and staff work closely with library staff to support pupils’ learning and enjoyment of reading. Classes visit the library regularly, allowing learners to explore books, develop library skills, and experience reading for pleasure as well as for learning.
